BINGO – IN DANGER OF CLOSING!

Our St. Bees Bingo is in critical need of more volunteers!  If we do not have enough volunteers trained an in place by December 19th, we will have to close our Bingo.  Please consider volunteering one Tuesday evening a month to keep our Bingo open.  We are most in need of callers!

The revenue that the parish receives from bingo is significant ($75,000+ annually) with the majority of the funds going to the school.  It is the main fundraiser for our school. With Bingo gone it would be a great loss felt by our parish and school community.  PLEASE,   Contact the Bingo office at 604-596-1833 if you can help.

STUDENT CONFERENCES

Research has shown that parental involvement is the most important factor in a student’s success at school. The first student conference of the school year provides a great opportunity for you and your child’s teacher to share insights and information about him/her.

Student  conferences are scheduled for Thursday, November 16th and Friday, November 17th.

We strongly encourage all parents to attend as these conferences provide an excellent opportunity to establish valuable communication between parents and teachers.

ST. VINCENT DE PAUL FOOD DRIVE

The grade 5 students are organizing our annual food drive for the St. Vincent de Paul Society.  The goal this year is to collect over 1000non-perishable food items.  If the school is successful we will have a non-uniform day to celebrate our success.  The last day to hand in items will be this Friday, November 10th.

CLOTHING DRIVE

Items for the clothing drive can be dropped off  on Nov. 15th  8:30-9:00am and 2:30-3:00pm,  Nov. 16th 8:30-9:00am and 3:15-3:45pm, and on Nov. 19th  9:30am-1:00pm., drop off location is by the Gym doors. Bags are available  at the office.

2018-2019 APPLICATION FORMS

We are now accepting applications for the 2018-2019 school year.  With increased interest in our school, the demand for spots has also increases.  We are estimating 20 or less spots for Kindergarten and only one or two spots per grade from 1 – 7.  If you know of someone who would like to attend St. Bernadette, please have them pick up an application form from the school/parish or download one from our website.

Reminders

SCHOOL CLOSURE

In the event of weather conditions, or unforeseen circumstances, the pastor, chairperson and principal will decide whether or not the school will be open on that day. Notice of school closures will be announced on CKNW 980 on the AM dial and posted on the school website when possible.

The Classroom Rep for your child will contact you when there is a school closure.  It is important that you notify the rep that you received the information.  They may have to happen more than once if you have multiple children in the school.

Please do not call the school; it is important that we keep all lines free in case of an emergency.

HOLY CHILDHOOD

Just a reminder the Holy Childhood  collection were due today, November 8th.  If your child(ren) have not handed in their box(es) please ensure that they hand them in.

HALLOWEEN CANDY

We will be collecting hallowe’en candy again this year.  The Grade 7 students will be putting together candy bags for St. Vincent de Paul Society.  There will be a box in the school hallway by the office for the candy donations and we will be collecting the  candy until Wednesday, November 15th. Thank you for your ongoing support and thoughtfulness. It is through your generosity that we are able to carry out God’s ministry to those who are less fortunate.

SIBLINGS

If you have a child who will be entering Kindergarten in September 2018, please provide the office with his/her name along with birthdate.

USED UNIFORMS

We are accepting good, clean used uniforms at the school.  A bin is located across from the office.  If you are in need of a uniform please email useduniforms@stbernadette.ca to make your request.  Please have all the sizing information listed in your email
