LIKE US ON GOOGLE & RECOMMEND US ON FACEBOOK

St. Bernadette School is trying to expand its social media presence.  One of the best ways is through online word of mouth.  If you are proud of your school please consider leaving us a review.  Leaving reviews with keys words such as “Surrey, school, best, top, St. Bernadette, elementary, etc.” help get our school out there when families do searches using those words.

There are two primary sites that we use where you can leave a review:

To leave a review on google, type in St. Bernadette School Surrey in the google search bar and scroll down and look on the right side until you see the review button.

To leave a review on Facebook, go to https://www.facebook.com/stbernadettelementary/

Our goal is to receive over 50 reviews on each platform, we hope you will help us reach that goal.

This is a great opportunity to have fun, make new friends and learn the game. Cost is $100. Program runs every Saturday 9:30-11:00 April 6-May 25 @ Holy Cross Regional High School. If you are interested: email Bree Grandia bgrandia@holycross.bc.ca to secure a spot before March 9th, 2019.

REMINDERS

ABSENT NOTES

St. Bernadette School will be having their yearly attendance audit in month of May. Students who have been absent MUST provide the school with a absent note indicating the days  the days & reason  of absenteeism along with the parent signature.  Failure in not having an absent note for the days absence not accompanied by a note could result in families having to pay a portion of the provincial funding. So if you are aware of any absent note(s) that have not been given to the office, please send it in at your earliest convenience. Please ensure that you always submit an absent note for your child’s absenteeism.

SCHOOL CLOSURE

In the event of weather conditions, or unforeseen circumstances, the Principal will decide whether or not the school will be open on that day or remain open if the school needs to close part way through the day. Notice of school closures will be announced through Facebook, GlobalBC TV News (snow day mornings only), classroom representatives and if possible, the school website. Please do not call the school; it is important that we keep all lines free in case of an emergency.

When it comes to snow days, several factors go into making the call.  The call to close the school must be made prior to 6:45am to ensure Stingers Club parents receive timely notice.  The factors that go into making the call include, but is not limited to:

• Information on current road conditions (Conditions are monitored throughout the night, and again at approximately 6:00am by the Principal) including the side street accessibility to the school from 65B Ave.

• Amount of snow and ice accumulated and/or predicted to accumulate

• Duration and timing of the snow and/or ice event

• Temperature and wind chill (for safety of walkers and students at bus stops) – we will receive direction when it comes to closing school due to extreme temperatures.

• School building conditions (electricity, heat, water)

• School parking lot conditions (safety, accessibility)

• Current weather conditions, along with predicted weather, but closures cannot be determined solely on predictions.

• Consultation with the pastor, PEC chair, other nearby staff members and Catholic schools, including Holy Cross Secondary.

As a reminder, although we do our best in the decision-making process, if the school is open and you, the parent, feels as though it is not safe for your child to attend school, you have the option of keeping your child at home.

USED UNIFORMS

Used uniforms are needed to help re-stock the shelves for our used uniforms.  If you have any used uniform items to donate, please contact Angeline at:  useduniforms@stbernadette.ca

All proceeds generated from the sales of used uniforms comes directly back to the school.

One cannot change yesterday

but only make the most of today,

and look forward with hope

toward tomorrow!!!
