MORNING DROP OFF & AFTER SCHOOL
It has breen brought to our attention that some students are not being dropped off in the designated drop-off area. Please do not drop off students in the traffic flow lane. If you are dropping off in the morning we ask that you use the drop off lane that runs adjacent to the Parish Centre. If you are staying at the school in the morning please park in the upper area of the parking lot and walk your child to the playground area.
This part of our routine is as follows: we will use the west gate of the parking lot (marked “Enter Only”) to enter the parking lot and the east gate of the parking lot (marked “Exit Only”) as our only way to exit the parking lot. The configuration of the cones to allow traffic to flow through the parking lot to the “Exit Only” gate. If using the drop off area near the Parish Centre, please stop at the speed bump, once your children have left your vehicle they are to stay behind the cones as they enter the playground. Volunteers are in the parking lot helping to direct traffic. Safety of the children is our primary concern, please remember to drive slowly. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
In the event of weather conditions, or unforeseen circumstances, the pastor, chairperson and principal will decide whether or not the school will be open on that day. Notice of school closures will be announced on CKNW 980 on the AM dial and posted on the school website when possible. Please do not call the school; it is important that we keep all lines free in case of an emergency.
Order forms for the Cookie & Pie Sale from the 24th Avenue Baking Co. went home last week. All proceeds from this sale goes to our Outreach Program, please return your order form back to the school no later than Thursday, November 14th, your support is greatly appreciated.
HALLOWEEN DRESS UP
Friday, October 31st students may come to school in costume or dress in Hallowe’en colours. If your child is coming in costume please remember that children are not to wear costumes that would be deemed inappropriate. We ask that costumes refrain from portraying violent characters and/or images, and promoting characters and/or imagery that depicts parts of society that causes harm to other . All weapons, no matter how fake or harmless they are (foam, cardboard, etc.), must be kept at home. We will have a costume Parade for the students on that day.
We will be collecting hallowe’en candy again this year. The Grade 7 students will be putting together candy bags for our Outreach Program which will then be handed out on our visits to the Front Room shelter. There will be a box in the school hallway by the office for the candy donations. Thank you for your ongoing support and thoughtfulness. It is through your generosity that we are able to carry out God’s ministry to those who are less fortunate.
With the cold and rainy season coming, please make sure your children are appropriately dressed for the weather. Students are expected to go outside for recess in order to get some exercise and fresh air. Coats, gloves, hats and boots are recommended, depending on the weather. Please make sure your child has everything he or she needs before coming to school.
If it is raining when your child comes to school, the students are permitted to go directly into the classrooms. They must still go through their designated doors and not through the front doors. Any outdoor footwear must be removed immediately upon entering the school. Please make sure that all coats, boots, umbrellas, etc. are labeled with your child’s name.
The school website is now up and running. Please take time to check it out. The school calendar & school newsletter will be posted on the website along with any other important information. You can also follow us on Twitter & on Facebook.

Always wash hands after going to the bathroom, sneezing, coughing, touching pets and before making food.
Cover your mouth and nose when you sneeze or cough. Throw out tissues after blowing or wiping your nose after sneezing or coughing.

VIRTUE OF THE MONTH
Staff and students will be focusing on the virtue of Faith for the Month of October. Our family group activity is going to be creating rosaries. Ms. Wagg, Gr. 3 teacher, has done a fantastic job in developing and creating the group activity.
Every month we focus on one virtue to help the students develop a strong moral character. Ms. Albrecher and the Gr.6’s did a wonderful job leading group activities and leading a Friday community prayer service to bring the virtue of Joyfulness to the students.
The Inside Scoop is an informal way for the families to communicate with other families. It is a newsletter that typically goes out on the 3rd Wednesday of every month. If you need services, have an item to sell, giving away items, etc. this is the place to advertise. The Inside Scoop is prepared by Anne-Marie Palma and sent out through the School. If you need to place an advertisement in the Inside Scoop you can e-mail her at email@example.com Please e-mail her no later than the second Friday of each month.
