MORNING DROP OFF & AFTER SCHOOL
It has breen brought to our attention that some students are not being dropped off in the designated drop-off area. Please do not drop off students in the traffic flow lane. If you are dropping off in the morning we ask that you use the drop off lane that runs adjacent to the Parish Centre. If you are staying at the school in the morning please park in the upper area of the parking lot and walk your child to the playground area.
This part of our routine is as follows: we will use the west gate of the parking lot (marked “Enter Only”) to enter the parking lot and the east gate of the parking lot (marked “Exit Only”) as our only way to exit the parking lot. The configuration of the cones to allow traffic to flow through the parking lot to the “Exit Only” gate. If using the drop off area near the Parish Centre, please stop at the speed bump, once your children have left your vehicle they are to stay behind the cones as they enter the playground. Volunteers are in the parking lot helping to direct traffic. Safety of the children is our primary concern, please remember to drive slowly. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Students are expected to go outside for recess in order to get some exercise and fresh air. Coats, gloves, hats and boots are recommended, depending on the weather. review with the children proper hand washing techniques
review with the children the importance of washing their hands prior to eating
review with the children the importance of covering their nose and mouth with a tissue when they sneeze and throwing the tissue in the trash after it is used.
review with the children that when they cough, to do so into their sleeve if possible.
display hand-washing posters in all facility washrooms
display cough/sneeze etiquette posters throughout our facilities
Here is a list of things that you may want to review with your family at home:
Handwashing is the best way to prevent the spread of germs from one person to another. Wash hands thoroughly with soap and water for at least 15 to 20 seconds.
Always wash hands after going to the bathroom, sneezing, coughing, touching pets and before making food.
Cover your mouth and nose when you sneeze or cough. Throw out tissues after blowing or wiping your nose after sneezing or coughing.
Clean surfaces such as counter tops and cutting boards with soap and water before and after preparing food. Cover the food and store it at recommended temperatures.

VIRTUE OF THE MONTH
Staff and students will be focusing on the virtue of Faith for the Month of October. Our family group activity is going to be creating rosaries. Ms. Wagg, Gr. 3 teacher, has done a fantastic job in developing and creating the group activity.
Every month we focus on one virtue to help the students develop a strong moral character. Ms. Albrecher and the Gr.6’s did a wonderful job leading group activities and leading a Friday community prayer service to bring the virtue of Joyfulness to the students.
INSIDE SCOOP

If you need services, have an item to sell, giving away items, etc. this is the place to advertise. The Inside Scoop is prepared by Anne-Marie Palma and sent out through the School. Dear Parents,
It is almost that time of the year again….
St. Bernadette Parish will once again have a Christmas Eve Children’s Choir Mass on December 24th at 6:30 PM. We would like to open this invitation to St Bernadette Elementary students to join the PREP students for this very exciting and entertaining service.
Practices will be Wednesdays (7:30-9:00 PM) starting on Oct 29th at the Parish Church. The last day we will take new choir members will be on Nov 12, 2015.
In addition, the same group will also be performing for our Parish’s Senior Dinner to be announced at a later date.
Looking forward to seeing your kids on Wednesday….
