OPEN HOUSE
At our Open House, teachers will have classroom displays, activities and take aways for the kids. Grade 7 Student Ambassadors will be hosting guided tours of the school and teachers will be there to answer any questions you may have. It is a great event where we get to showcase the school to the community. Kindergarten will be hosting a Ready. Set. Learn. event for children aged 3-4 years of age. No registration required.
We hope you are able to come by and visit after mass. Please let your family, neighbours, co-workers and friends know about the event. Positive word-of-mouth is the best compliment and gift you can give to the school!
MARK YOUR CALENDARS – AGM – THURSDAY FEBRUARY 1st – 6:30PM – 7:30PM
Once again St. Bernadette’s Annual General Meeting is designing the evening the evening to be one of community building, dialog, and obtaining important information in regards to tuition, school improvements, funding, election of the Parent Support Group, and much more. Attendance is mandatory for all family. Every family that attends receives an hour towards their parent participation hours.
Babysitting will be provided. Please see below for more details.
SEXUALITY AND YOUR CHILD (S&YC) PRESENTATION
On Thursday February 1st at 7:30pm (immediately following the AGM), St. Bernadette Elementary will be hosting the Sexuality and you Child Presentations for ALL GRADE LEVELS. It is sponsored by the Archdioceses and once again attendance is mandatory. The evening is part of the Religious Education and Physical and Health Education (PHE) courses for your child. This night is designed to empower parents to recognize their role as primary educators in faith and truth in human sexuality.
Every session has a separate topic for parents and these topics change from year to year. Each session is reviewed and updated each year so you can expect a fresh presentation even if you have attended specific sessions previously. The objective of this evening is for parents to gain confidence in their ability to communicate about sexuality to their children.
Kindergarten to grade 3 parents will stay in the Parish Hall for their talk. The Guest Speaker is Sarah Ruggier
Grade 4 will be in the grade 4 classroom – Guest Speaker Murita Chua
Grade 5 will be in the grade 5 classroom – Guest Speaker Kelly Kerrigan
Grade 6 & 7 will be together in the grade 7 classroom – Guest Speaker Tia MacDougall
FREE BABYSITTING FOR THE AGM AND S&YC EVENING
The grade 6 students have completed their babysitting course and are eager to gain experience. They will be offering free babysitting to families who need child care during the AGM and S&YC evening. NO DROP INS – REGISTRATION IS A MUST.

Children will be supervised in our new Learning Commons area.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
Volunteers are needed on a daily basis to help our custodian with the cleaning of the school. This will be ongoing task daily from Monday-Friday, 3:00pm-8:00pm. You do not need to commit for every day, or from 3:00-6:00, as this is a drop-in task.
If you are short of your Parent Participation hours this is a great way to get them completed. For more information, please contact the school office.
2018-2019 ADMISSIONS
We are currently accepting new admissions for the 2018-2019 school year. If you know of someone who you believe would benefit from a Catholic education please direct them to our website to fill out an application form. We do have waiting lists in some classes, however many of the students on these waiting lists do get accepted as spaces open up. Below are our current vacancies –

RE-REGISTRATION FOR 2018-2019
Re-registration for next school year will be happening on Friday February 2nd from 8am – 7pm. Registration packages will be sent home tomorrow. Please ensure that all forms have been completed and all documents are attached. If you are registering a Kindergarten child, please ensure that all documentation,ie: Birth certificate, immunization schedule & baptismal certificate are attached.
Any family who has not re-regististed by Monday February 12 will have their seats open to new families on the waiting list. We do have an active waiting list in some of the grades.
Please ensure you register on February 2nd to avoid late fees and to secure your spot for next year. If your child will not be returning for the 2018-2019 school year, please inform the office prior to February 2nd.
