VIRTUE OF THE MONTH
The virtue for the Month of April is forgiveness. The Gr.2’s have just received their first Reconciliation and have a deeper and truer understanding of what it means to forgive. Asking for forgiveness is not just saying sorry, but making an effort “to sin no more and to avoid the near occasion of sin”. What this looks like in a school, is for students to understand that after they ask for forgiveness one must make efforts to help correct whatever wrong was committed. This is done in away that is beneficial to everyone involved and promotes a sense of community, understanding, and healing that is much needed in our world today.
CROWNING OF MARY
The Legion of Mary is looking for 15 students for the Crowning of Mary on Sunday, May 15th at 2:00pm. They are also seeking a grade 2 female student to do the Crowning of Mary. Please contact the office for further details.
STAFFING
We would like to welcome Ms. Maria Misiti to our staff. Ms. Misiti will be fulfilling the role of the Grade One teacher while Mrs. Hillard is on her maternity leave, this coming Friday will be her last day. We wish Mrs. Hillard & her family all the best as they welcome they arrival of their new addition to the family.
STB TRACK MEET UPDATES
We have close to 100% participation in grades 3-7 for track and field this year. A list of practice times and dates was sent home with your child. If you need more information, the school has extra forms.
Thank you to all the parents who volunteered to drive and help out with our annual track meet. Notices went home with your child to inform you of times, events and duties of the day.
If your child is participating in the meet, we will be leaving the school at 8:00am sharp. Please arrive at the school about 10mins early.
APPLICATION FOR NEW FAMILIES
We are currently accepting applications for new families. The response from new families that have already applied has been extremely positive. Many of the families have applied due to the positive and affirming feedback they have received. All of the families we have interviewed are very excited to join our community and are eager to get involved.
We are very thankful to have such amazing families in our school. Thank you for sharing your experiences with your families, friends, co-workers, and neighbours. It makes us stronger as a community and it ultimately benefits the education of your child and the new families that join us.
If you know of someone who would benefit from having their child(ren) at our school, please have them contact us or direct them to our website to download an application form.
REMINDERS
SCHOOL TENNIS PROGRAM
Tennis BC will be at our school on April 11th, 12th, 14th, and 18th providing children with Tennis lessons. We are excited to have them in our school. We continually look for ways to bring in organizations or venture out to give students experiences in the realm of physical education that they might not have done otherwise. Currently we have done this through our Outdoor Adventure Club, Curling BC visit, Skating at Newton Arena, and soon with Tennis BC visiting the school.
